The appointmet of a new commander to lead the Isalmic Republic of Iran's Navy comes after a series of naval incidents in recent years that apparently necessitated a change.
The largest ship in Iran's navy sank June 2 after it was struck by an explosion and fire in the Sea of Oman. The cause remains unclear, but it at least the third such disaster in one year.
