Iran Will Soon Face Shortage of Goods and Raw Material
Vice-Chairman of Tehran’s Chamber of Commerce, Massoud Khansari: If Iran’s current economic patterns continue, in 3 months we will witness a shortage of goods and raw material.”
In his meeting with the representatives of the chamber of commerce, industries, mining, and farming, Khansari talked about the serious problems that manufacturers are facing, such as “their pre-ordered goods are stuck in customs and are not being released.”
He mentioned that these products are in “139000 containers”, which include 7 million Tons of goods and 2.5 million tons of raw material.
According to Khansari, “the constant changes in government guidelines have caused many problems for manufacturers, and many of them are shutting down or downsizing.”
He also criticized the administration and claimed that “There are twelve individuals, organizations, or institutions within the current administrations who oversee these economic problems; but no one is taking responsibility. There should be a designated group inside the administration that economic activists can talk to about these problems. All these organizations issue guidelines, but none of them will accept responsibility.”
To prevent fuel smuggling, Khansari suggested a “price correction for energy carriers,” and said: “If someone smuggles two gallons of fuel or gasoline over the border, he will earn 8 to 9 million Rials a day, and this trend is already catching on.”
He suggested that one of the strategies to solve these problems is to bring in the private sector.
