The foreign policy and national security committee of Iran’s parliament has announced the details of the bill they have prepared in response to the designation of IRGC as a terrorist organization by the United States.

Ali Najafi, the spokesperson for the committee says that the bill was passed by the committee on Monday, and “representatives of the related organizations” were present in the meeting. He did not name the organizations.

The bill suggests that “all the American military and security forces in western Asia and all the individuals and institutions who work on their behalf in western Asia must be designated as terrorists.”

The bill must be approved by the parliament and the Guardian Council and it is almost certain that it will be passed by both. One day after the designation of IRGC as a terrorist group, all the MPs wore IRGC uniform at the parliament.

In a coordinated effort, many TV hosts and Friday prayer Imams also wore IRGC uniform as a sign of support for the powerful organization.

According to article 1 of the bill, “The Islamic Republic government in accordance with this bill, and the armed forces by order of the supreme leader, must take decisive action and countermeasures against the terrorist forces of the United States and other terrorist forces mentioned in the law who are active in western Asia and … and undermine the national interests of the Islamic Republic.”

Najafi also announced that the national security committee reviewed and confirmed “cases of human rights violation” by the United States. He did not provide any details of the report.

The bill also obligates the government to “use maximum effort to negate the U.S action” in designating IRGC as a terrorist organization.

The Islamic Republic has warned the United States that the decision to designate IRGC as a terrorist organization could lead to a military face-off between the United States forces and IRGC.
