Iran Begins Military Drill in Strait of Hormuz
The Islamic Republic Navy started its week-long drill in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman.
According to domestic Iranian press: “The great drill of 2019 is in an area of 2 Km from the Strait of Hormuz to the Gulf of Oman, and it will take one week.”
Commander of the Navy stated that during the drill Iran will shoot missiles from its submarines for the first time.
Khanzadi also announced that: “The drill will also include testing long-distance drones for scouting and identification and bombardment of targets from the sky.”
Electronic war and electronic data have also been announced as goals of this drill.
The IRGC ground forces had another drill in the Persian Gulf almost two months ago.
Islamic Republic officials have repeatedly threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz and all oil exports if their oil export route is cut off.
