Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard fails to seize British tanker

On Wednesday, The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) fast boats attempted to seize a British tanker in the Persian Gulf.

On Wednesday night, July 11, five armed IRGC boats approached a British oil tanker entering the Strait of Hormuz and ordered it to change course toward Iran.

Sources say an American plane in the area has filmed the events, but Central Command has nut released the video yet.

Based on the reports, a British frigate that was accompanying this tanker from behind, threatened the IRGC boats to open fire. The IRGC boats then left the scene.

It was previously reported that the British frigate “HMS Montrose” was deployed to the Persian Gulf to escort an oil tanker. The vessel reportedly turned its 30mm deck guns towards the enemy fleet and warned them off.

The northern side of the Strait of Hormuz belongs to Iran.

During his Wednesday cabinet meeting, President Rouhani had warned British officials about the consequences of their “pathetic” decision to detain an Iranian tanker in Gibraltar: “I’m warning the British that you started this and you will understand its consequences later.”
