The members of Majles voted to pass the bill that would designate U.S forces in West Asia and related individuals and organizations as terrorists.

The bill which was prepared in response to the designation of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist organization by the United States passed with 204 votes against 2.

The supreme council of national security had previously identified U.S forces in the region as terrorist groups.

One article in the bill obligates the armed forces to cooperate with the intelligence ministry and IRGC intelligence to create a list of names of the commanders of the U.S headquarter in West Asia and all the organizations and individuals under its command.

The armed forces are also obligated to make efforts to shut down U.S bases in the region and the to not allow American forces to benefit from facilities, equipment, financial resources and other support from the countries in the region.

Another article says that if other countries support or follow U.S decision in designating IRGC as a terrorist organization, they must be included in the countermeasures.

Another important article states that all government and non-governmental and financial institutions are obligated to cooperate with and provide services to the IRGC, and “if they refuse to do so in accordance with international sanctions, they will be indicted in accordance with the Islamic Criminal Law.”

This article is specifically important due to the FATF process. Two years ago, Mellat Bank and Sepah Bank officially told Khatmol Anbia headquarters (IRGC subsidiary) that in order to meet their international obligations, they will no longer provide services to the headquarter.

The two MPs who opposed this bill were demanding longer range for missiles and stop and search of American boats and planes to be included in the bill.
