IRGC Commander Confirms Ballistic Missile Testing
Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of IRGC aerospace force, confirmed that Iran has tested a ballistic missile.
In an interview with Fars News on Tuesday, December 11, Hajizadeh confirmed the ballistic missile test.
The U.N security council passed resolution 2231 at the same time as the JCPOA, which banned Iran from testing and using ballistic missiles that can carry nuclear warheads.
Iran’s missile program has been criticized by the U.S and E.U for years. Western countries believe Iran’s missile program is mainly used to threaten Israel and to build missiles that can carry a nuclear warhead.
Recently, a photo of an Iranian missile with “Israel must be destroyed” written on it in Hebrew caused controversy.
In recent weeks Mike Pompeo and other Western officials have accused the Islamic Republic of testing missiles that violate the 2231 resolution. A test which also caused U.K and France to object.
Yesterday, Hajizadeh claimed that Iran is capable of manufacturing ballistic missiles with over 2000 km range.
