Saeed Malekpour Was Transferred from Prison to Hospital Due to Heart Problems

Saeed Malekpour, the Iranian-Canadian prisoner who was arrested in October 2007 and has been incarcerated since, was transferred to Taleghani hospital in Tehran due to his heart problems.

According to his sister Mariam’s Twitter page, he was transferred to the hospital and was returned to prison before his treatment was completed.

Saeed Malekpour was arrested in 2007 on a trip to Iran to visit his father. He was accused of running a pornographic website and was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court. In 2013, his sentence was changed to life in prison.

After his arrest, the national TV broadcast a video of him confessing to running several pornographic websites. He later said that the confessions were taken under torture.

In a letter which was published in 2009, Malekpour announced that he had been under torture and pressure ever since the arrest and that he had spent 320 days in solitary confinement.
