U.S Adds Golrokh Iraei and Taheri to the List of Ideological Prisoners
The United States Commission on International Religious Freedom has added Golrokh Ebrahimi and Mohammad Ali Taheri to the list of ideological prisoners.
The commission follows up on the conditions of people who have been incarcerated in different countries for their religions or beliefs. Golrokh Ebrahimi Iraei has been sentenced to three years in prison for writing a novel about the ritual of Stoning that has not been published. Mohammad Ali Taheri is the founder of the Mysticism of Circle has been in prison for seven years on the charge of “blasphemy”.
In 2016, Iraei's husband, Arash Sadeghi, also a political prisoner, went on a 71-day hunger strike in protest to his wife's arrest without warrant. He ended his strike after she was temporarily released at the time.
