Zayanderud Dam at Only 8 Percent Capacity

Hasan Sasani, chairman of water protection and utilization of Isfahan, says that according to the available data, Zayanderud river’s dam is only at 8 percent of its 1.4 billion square meter capacity.

He told ISNA: “Currently Zayanderud dam is at 128 million square meters, which is only for drinking use of Isfahan and Yazd.”

Iran’s water crisis is getting worse by day, which causes uprisings in dry areas of the country. Water mismanagement, over-damming the rivers, and the drought are the main causes of the water crisis in Iran.
