11 Military Personnel Summoned in Relation to the Ahvaz Attacks
In a press conference on Sunday, October 14, the spokesperson for the Judiciary, Gholamhossein Mohseni Eje’i, announced that the Judicial Organization of the Armed Forces is investigating the Ahvaz terror attacks and has summoned several individuals for questioning.
According to Fars News, Eje’I reported that the Ahvaz case has been transferred to Tehran and so far, “11 have been summoned and one has been arrested”, and “all of them are military personnel”.
He did not elaborate more on the topic, but previously several representatives at the Islamic Consultative Assembly (Islamic Republic’s parliament) had spoken about the mistakes made by the security forces, and that the names of at least 30 people have been presented to the supreme leader so he would decide on their fate.
Eje’I also mentioned on the arrest of 196 people on the charge of “organized smuggling and illegal activities regarding foreign currency” and said in these cases “besides the death penalty, all other sentences are possible.”
In response to a question about the lawsuit brought by Mohammad Khatami, former president, against General Naghdi, Eje’i said that the former president “had sued 4 individuals and all those cases are being processed”.
