333,000 “Corrupting” Books Discovered in Police Raids

Tehran chief of police announced that during several missions in different parts of the capital, over 333000 “corrupting and unapproved” books were found and confiscated.

According to Hossein Rahimi, the books were in 16 different storage rooms and were being sold by around 900 street vendors. 15 individuals were arrested in connection with the case.

Rahimi described some of the books as “unapproved and with inappropriate content” and claimed that these raids are part of a plan to support the publishers.

All the published books in Iran must first be confirmed by the Ministry of Islamic Guidance. Many books are rejected or subjected to heavy censorship.
