Ahmadinejad’s Press Secretary Sentenced to 3 Months in Prison
Ali Akbar Javanfekr, Ahmadinejad’s press secretary was sentenced to 91 days in prison. He was charged with “resisting against the law enforcement officers”.
Javanfekr explained that in 2011, law enforcement officers visited the office of Iran Newspaper, and as they violently searched the office, they wounded some of his colleagues.
He added: “We did not press charges for that incident, but years later even though the statute of limitation had passed, the prosecutor’s office pressed charge me and three former employees of Iran Newspaper with resisting law enforcement officers.”
Mehran Abdollahpour, the defense attorney of Javanfekr also announced that a new case is being brought up against Javanfekr for “publishing lies”.
Hamid Baghaei and Esfandiar Rahim Mashaei are also members of Ahmadinejad’s inner circle who have been incarcerated recently.
