Businesses Went on Strike in Some of Iran’s Kurdish Majority Cities
Reports from several cities in Iran indicate a strike in a significant part of the city and the city’s market.
The strike took place in response to the executions of three Iranian Kurdish political prisoners and the recent attack by the Revolutionary Guard Corps on the headquarters of Kurdish parties in Iraqi Kurdistan Region.
Released images from Sanandaj, Marivan, Mahabad, Oshnavieh, Piranshahr, and Saqqez show that many shops in these cities’ markets are closed.
On Saturday, September 8th, Ramin Hussein Panahi, Zanyar Moradi, and Loghman Moradi, three Iranian Kurdish prisoners were executed by the Islamic Republic Judiciary.
Ramin Hussein Panahi was sentenced to death by the Revolutionary Court of Sanandaj last year on charges of "membership in the Komala Party and advocating for the party” Loghman and Zanyar Moradi were sentenced to death by Tehran's Revolutionary Court on charges of " War against the religion through acts against national security, membership in the Komala Party and the assassination of the son of Marivan's Imam.” They denied these charges and in 2013, they announced in an open letter from inside the prison that their confessions had been forced under torture and threats of rape by the interrogators.
Many human rights activists and lawyers in Iran and around the world have expressed their concerns regarding the unfair and hasty trial process
