The Case of Environmental Activists Was Sent to Court

The head of Tehran’s Judiciary, Gholam Hossein Esmaeili announced that the case of the arrested environmental activists has been sent to the Revolutionary Court.

According to Mehr News, Esmaeili said that “no court date has been set, but it will be done soon.”

Several environmental activists were arrested in January 2018. Two weeks later, Kavous Seyed Emami, one of the arrested activists were killed in prison. The judiciary called it a suicide.

The activists were not officially charged for a long time, yet the spokesperson for the judiciary accused them of espionage. However, the head of EPA objected to the accusation.

According to IRNA, the judiciary ordered the EPA to stop following up on the situation of these activists because the issue is out of their jurisdiction.
