Coronavirus spreads to 16 provinces in Iran; Iran International reports indicate 94 dead

According to the numbers confirmed by Iran International sources, the death toll of coronavirus in Iran has reached 94.

However, a Health Ministry official announced that 44 more cases of coronavirus have been discovered and four of them have died. Therefore, according to official reports, the coronavirus death toll in Iran is at 19 with 139 confirmed cases.

Meanwhile, the acting dean of the Qom University of Medical Science reported that the two hospitals in Qom designated for coronavirus patients with almost 600 beds combined have been filled. Kamkar hospital, the designated primary coronavirus hospital has 192 beds and Forghani, the secondary hospital for suspected coronavirus patients, has 400 beds.

The Health Ministry official sent to Qom city announced on Monday that 300 patients have been hospitalized in these hospitals, but with both hospitals being filled on Tuesday night, that means a 100 percent increase in the number of patients in 24 hours.

However, President Hassan Rouhani stated on Tuesday that the report on coronavirus provided by the Ministry of Health has been “hopeful” and shows “a move toward controlling the virus”. He added that From Saturday the country will resume all normal functions.

Meanwhile, coronavirus cases have been reported in 15 provinces in Iran, up from 6 just two days ago. Many doctors and nurses have been reported sick with coronavirus with one nurse being reported dead in Lahijan city.

In Yazd province, the hospital that received a coronavirus case has stopped all family visitations at the hospital.
