Cultural Heritage Organization: No plans for Cyrus the Great day

Iran’s Cultural Heritage Organization announced that the organization has no plans for the Cyrus the Great day (October 29th).

In its announcement, the organization states: “Despite the rumors, the Cultural Heritage organization has no plans for this day.”

Last year the security forces shut off all the roads to Pasargadae (the shrine of Cyrus) and did not allow visitors who had gathered for Cyrus’ birthday to get to the shrine. Several visitors were also arrested.

Since the revolution in 1979, the Islamic Republic has shown an aggressive animosity towards pre-Islamic Iranian heritage and history.
