Deputy Commander of IRGC: Our Strategy Is to Eliminate Israel
During the “Defensive and Security Architecture of the Islamic Regime” conference, Hossein Salami, the deputy commander of IRGC emphasized that if there was a war with Israel, it would lead to elimination of that county and taking back the “occupied Palestine” and “the Israelis will not have a graveyard in Palestine to bury their corpses.”
Recently, Mohammad Javad Zarif, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic had claimed in an interview: “When did we ever say that we were going to destroy Israel? Show us one person who has said that. No one has ever said that.”
Islamic Republic authorities have constantly talked about the destruction of Israel in the past 40 years. Mohammad Ali Jafari, the commander of IRGC had also talked about “raining missiles on Israel” recently.
Salami also stated that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard has moved its strategic depth “from Karkheh and Karoun to the Mediterranean” and “wherever the enemy makes a move, an army from that region will stand against them.”
These recent verbal attacks seem to be in response to Israel’s attack on Iranian bases in Syria, although none of the IRGC commanders addressed it directly.
On Saturday, Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah of Lebanon also threatened Israel with a regional war if their attacks on Iran’s bases in Syria continue.
