Dr. Farhad Maisami is in terrible condition in prison
Reza Khandan, the civil activist and husband to Nasrin Sotudeh, wrote a letter from prison about the “concerning condition” of Farhad Maisami and said: “It has been over 75 days since Dr. Farhad Maisami started his hunger strike. It has been almost three weeks since they forcefully moved him to the medical ward of the prison.”
Khandan writes that the medical ward is used as “solitary confinement” and that: “Right now Maisami is being held there under heavy security measures…they repeatedly tie him to the bed without the presence of his family or attorney and inject him with serums.”
At the end of his letter, Khandan asks for Farhad Maisami “to be transferred to a safe hospital outside of prison and be treated immediately.”
Maisami is a physician, teacher, and civil activist charged with “assembly and conspiracy against national security”, “propaganda against the regime”, and “encouraging improper hijab in the society”.
