Three days after the supreme court of Iran confirmed the death sentences of three young protesters, the chief od judiciary of Isfahan province announced that “eight cases convicted of spreading corruption on earth” have received their final verdict. The cases were related to the 2017 and 2019 protests in Iran.

Mohammad Reza Habibi announced the news during his speech at the Friday prayer in Isfahan and warned that “if what happened in 2009, 2017, and 2019 happens again we will deal with the rioters decisively.

“The enemy is trying to cause dissidence and their hope is on internal conflict,” he added.

The chief of Isfahan judiciary did not explicitly specify “death sentence” as the punishment for the convicted individuals, but the charge of spreading corruption on earth receives the death sentence in Iran.

According to Iran’s Islamic Criminal Law, people who commit “crimes against national security, spreading lies, disrupting the country’s economy, arson, and destruction” in a broad scale “will be convicted of spreading corruption on earth and will be sentenced to death.”
