Exclusive: German equipment in “fully Iranian made” Nahid 1 satellite
Technical robotics and aerospace equipment made by the German company "Faulhaber" has been used in Iran’s Nahid 1 satellite.
According to the videos from inside this satellite, Faulhaber equipment has been used at least in the accurate microcontrollers for the correct function of the satellite.
Based in Stuttgart, Faulharber company is involved in various fields including optimum drive system, Microdrive, linear motors, and some industrial aerospace equipment.
In the video report that the Communications Minister of the Islamic Republic published on his Twitter account, the state-TV reporter emphasizes that everything in this satellite, “zero to a hundred” is made in Iran.
However, in the video published on Pars Today, an international subsidiary of the Islamic Republic’s state TV, the Faulhaber name and logo are clearly visible on Nahid 1 satellite equipment.
The company’s Microdrive controls one of the heavily publicized functions of the satellite, praised as a great step for the country, which is the rotating solar panels on the satellite.
It is not yet clear whether Faulhaber company has directly cooperated with Iran in the building of Nahid 1 satellite. And it is also not clear whether the company’s equipment is only used in Nahid 1 or other Iranian satellites.
Recently, the United States added three Iranian aerospace centers to the list of sanctions. The US claims Iran’s satellite tests are a cover for the country’s ballistic missile program.
