Flood in Shiraz Leaves At Least 17 dead and 94 Injured
Updated: Pir Hossein Kulivand, the chairman of Iran’s emergency services said that the flood in Shiraz has caused at least 17 deaths and 94 injuries.
He also said that Shiraz Emergency Services is providing help to the people with one ambulance bus and 16 ambulances.
After the heavy rain and massive floods in northern provinces of Iran, now southern and southeastern provinces are hit with the flood crisis.
The flood reached Shiraz on Monday morning and caused over 200 cars to flip over. Reports indicate that many streets, markets, and neighborhoods are also flooded.
Heavy rain started in Lorestan province on Sunday, and it is predicted to continue until Tuesday afternoon.
In Poldokhtar city, rain blocked the road and cut off 20 villages.
With the increasing threat of floods in at least 10 provinces, Vice President Jahangiri talked on the phone with the governors of Kermanshah, Ilam, Chahar Mahal & Bakhriari, Kohgiluyeh & Boyer-Ahmad, Lorestan, and Khuzestan provinces about the necessary preparations for the possibility of the flood.
The flood started with the beginning of the new Iranian year in northern provinces of Iran.
