Iran’s Missile Tests Have Doubled in 2018

According to a German newspaper, Iran’s number of missile tests have been doubled in 2018 compared to last year.

The newspaper reported that the Islamic Republic has tested seven mid-range missiles and five short-range and Cruise missiles, which makes it more than double the number of tests the country did in 2017.

According to the report, Iran’s current mid-range missiles can travel 2000 km and hit Saudi Arabia and any part of Israel, and can also reach E.U.

Iran’s missile program has been criticized by the U.S and E.U for years. Western countries believe Iran’s missile program is mainly used to threaten Israel and to build missiles that can carry a nuclear warhead.

Recently, a photo of an Iranian missile with “Israel must be destroyed” written on it in Hebrew caused controversy.

The U.N security council passed resolution 2231 at the same time as the JCPOA, which banned Iran from testing and using ballistic missiles that can carry a nuclear warhead.

In recent weeks Mike Pompeo and other Western officials have accused the Islamic Republic of testing missiles that violate the 2231 resolution. A test which also caused U.K and France to object.
