Iran Calls the New EU Sanctions Unacceptable
The Islamic Republic’s Representative in Vienna, Kazem Gharib Abadi, called the new EU sanctions on the intelligence ministry and two of its employees “unacceptable and a deviation from EU’s responsibility.”
According to IRNA, on his private Twitter page (which cannot be seen by the public) Gharib Abadi wrote: “While Europe is a safe haven for terrorist groups like People’s Mujahedin and other terrorists who have murdered thousands of Iranian civilians, the EU is criticizing Iran and sanctioning Iranians.”
He repeated that Iran’s foreign ministry has denied all the allegations and they are all efforts by the Israeli intelligence to damage the relations between Iran and Brussels.
Hamid Baedinejad, Iran’s ambassador to Britain also tweeted: “Unfortunately, European countries have become safe havens for People’s Mujahedin and other terrorist and separatist groups that are openly trying to divide Iran.”
The press inside Iran have reported that there was a meeting between several European ambassadors and foreign ministry authorities, in which the ambassadors tried to justify EU’s positions, but due to the use of inappropriate language and unacceptable justification, the meeting was concluded in less than ten minutes.
It was also said that Iran will assess and review its intelligence and security cooperation with European countries, and soon new decisions will be made.
