Islamic Republic Officials: We Will Not Negotiate
Referring to president Trump’s claim that Iran wants to negotiate, Bahram Ghasemi, the spokesperson for the ministry of foreign affairs described Trump’s claims as “ambition and delusion”.
He said: “Trump is only expressing his impossible dreams which have nothing to do with reality.”
Trump had also talked about the heavy economic impact of the sanctions on Iran, but Ghassemi denied that too and claimed: “The Islamic Republic is familiar with U.S pressures and sanctions and it will never bend to America’s will.”
Ali Shamkhani, the chairman of the national security supreme council, claimed that in his trip to Afghanistan, some people representing the United States messaged him twice for negotiations: “They are lying about us messaging them.”
President Rouhani recently said that the United States has asked for negotiations 11 times, but “with respect to Iranian people’s dignity”, the Islamic Republic rejected them.
The supreme leader of the Islamic Republic has forbidden any negotiations with the current American administration. Using a lighter touch, Javad Zarif, the foreign minister, has said that for any negotiation with America to take place, the United States should return to JCPOA.
