Khatami: U.S Army's Exit from Syria is a Sign of Defeat
Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami, the Friday-prayer Imam of Tehran says that the exit of U.S forces from Syria is a sign of America’s defeat.
According to IRIB, Khatami said that the Americans “themselves admit this and the resignation of their minister of defense was due to this fact.”
President Trump recently ordered American troops to leave Syria. He stated that the United States has defeated ISIS and that was the only reason for the American troops being in Syria.
After his announcement, General Mattis, his minister of defense, submitted his resignation.
Ahmad Khatami continued: “Those who until yesterday insisted that Bashar Assad should not be in power, are now saying we have given up on our demand, and those who had shut down their embassies are now reopening them in Damascus, and it all goes to show that resistance works.”
The Friday-prayer Imam added: “Trump traveled in secret at night with airplane lights off,” to the middle east and “that shows the timidity and humiliation of the United States and the righteousness of the ‘Death to America’ chant.”
The Friday-prayer Imams in Iran are appointed by a council appointed by the supreme leader and are considered the Ayatollah Khamenei's voices across the country.
