Rouhani’s Highest Economist Resigns

It was announced by the Institute of Education and Research in Management and Planning that president Hassan Rouhani has accepted Masoud Nili’s resignation.

According to ISNA, Nili has also recused himself from the Money and Credit Council sessions and Tayebnia has replaced him.

There were rumors of Nili’s resignation in recent week. Nili is considered the most prestigious economist in Rouhani’s administration. His resignation is very significant. Nili is a graduate of Manchester University. He has worked in Hashemi and Khatami’s administrations as the deputy of Planning and Budget Management Organization and he is one of the designers of the first and the third five-year Development Plan.
