Sandstorm in SIstan and Baluchistan sends hundreds to hospital

According to official reports from Sistan and Baluchistan province, the sandstorm in Zabol, Zahak, Hamoon, Hirmand, and Nimrooz cities have sent hundreds of people to the hospitals and closed all businesses.

Tasnim reports that on Wednesday over 264 people visited health centers and 26 were hospitalized. In previous days, 465 people had visited hospitals.

The storm began on Saturday and is gradually getting stronger.

According to the reports, the storm has caused respiratory, visual, and heart problems for many people. The crisis management office has distributed 20 thousand masks among the people.

In recent years, environmental experts had warned about the effects of the draught and the corrosion of plant life in the region.

The sandstorms are caused by what is known in the region as “120-day winds” that start in Spring and last until the end of Summer.
