Shamkhani: Iranian Forces Will Not Leave Syria

Ali Shamkhani, the chairman of Iran’s supreme security council, said that Iran will stay in Syria “until the security crisis ends”.

In a meeting on Tuesday with the foreign minister of Syria in Tehran, Shamkhani stressed that Iran will remain in Syria during the “reconstruction period”.

The foreign minister of Syria thanked the Islamic Republic for its support and said that the government of Syria “is dedicated to keeping the current Iranian troops in Syria.”

Shamkhani also accused the Western Countries of greed and sabotage in the political process in Syria.

The European Union on Monday criticized Iran’s military presence in Syria and asked Iran to use its influence on Assad to establish peace.

Meanwhile, Shamkhani warned Israel that if the attacks in Syria continues, the “response will be strong and appropriate in order to teach Israel a lesson”.

In recent months, Israel has regularly attacked Iran’s bases in Syria, and the Israeli officials have announced that they will continue these attacks.
