Son of Abdol-Rasoul Mortazavi: Khamenei is personally responsible for my father’s health
In a video message addressing the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Masoud Mortazavi, son of political prisoner Abdol-Rasoul Mortazavi, one of the signatories of the letter of 14 activists to Khamenei calling for his resignation, described his father’s condition in prison and said: “I hold you personally responsible for protecting the health of war veteran Abdol-Rasoul Mortazavi, and demand his immediate and unconditional release.”
Mortazavi referred to his father’s charges of “insulting the leader” and “disrupting national order” as vague and empty, and said: “Mr. Khamenei, after 40 years you have not been able to keep the promises with which you sent thousands of young men to the battlefields, destroyed thousands of dreams, made thousands of families mourn loved ones, and took away fathers of thousands of children.”
He continued: “If anyone should be tried for opposing the ideals of the revolution, it is you.”
He explained that his father is spending a tough time in prison due to his old wound, and said that his father’s digestive problems has intensified due to low quality of prison food and healthcare.
Abdol-Rasoul Mortazavi has been sentenced to 26 years in prison by the Revolutionary Court.
