Students Condemn Parisa Rafei's Prison Sentence

A group of student associations, foundations, and publications of Zanjan universities issued a statement condemning the sentence of seven years in prison for 21-year-old student Parisa Rafei.

The statement says these days, Parisa Rafei is awaiting her appeal court hearing instead of attending classes.

It continues: “Prisons used to be for criminals and embezzlers, now they are used to hold freedom seekers.”

Rafei was arrested in March of 2018. Her attorney had reported that the 26th branch of the Revolutionary Court has sentenced her to 7 years in prison on the charges of assembly and conspiracy to commit crimes against national security, propaganda against the regime, and disrupting public order.
