Zarif: Iran’s Missiles Are Non-Negotiable
Mohammad Javad Zarif, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic said that the country’s missiles have defensive function and the Islamic Republic uses fewer missiles “in the regions compared to others” so Iran’s missiles are non-negotiable.
According to ISNA, Zarif said the resolution 2231 of the U.N security council “does not stop Iran from testing missiles. It only mentions missiles that can carry a nuclear warhead. According to him “Iran has no nuclear warhead to fit any missile.”
Zarif claimed since the United States has violated the 2231 resolution when it left the JCPOA, “they have no right to talk about this resolution.”
He claimed that “the missiles that we are testing have nothing to do with 2231 resolution.”
Recently, the United States announced that Iran has tested ballistic missiles that can carry nuclear warheads which caused concern for Britain and France and finally led to a security council meeting behind closed doors.
After a week of silence from the Islamic Republic authorities, the commander of IRGC aerospace force confirmed the missile test.
