Scandinavian Countries: Iran’s Attempted Terror Attack Is Unacceptable
In a joint statement, the foreign ministers of Sweden, Finland, Norway, Iceland, and Denmark, announced their concern for the Islamic Republic’s attempted attack on a dissident on Danish soil and said they consider this a “very serious” situation.
The five foreign ministers met yesterday in Norway and issued the joint statement at the end of their meeting. The said the Islamic Republic’s attack was “unacceptable”.
The foreign ministers of Scandinavian countries stated that they have reviewed the information provided by Denmark and they stand in “complete solidarity” with the country. “It is important for the Scandinavian countries to stand shoulder to shoulder against the threats against their societies.”
On Tuesday, October 30th, a Norwegian citizen of Iranian descent was arrested in Denmark for an attempted terrorist attack organized by the Islamic Republic Intelligence against an Arab separatist group.
At the same time, Mohammad Javad Zarif, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, wrote in his Twitter account: “Mossad's perverse & stubborn planting of false flags (more on this later) only strengthens our resolve to engage constructively with the world.”
Denmark has asked the European Union to respond to this attempted attack and put more sanctions on the Islamic Republic. Denmark’s ambassador was also recalled from Tehran.
In Tehran, there are various reactions to the news. Some call this an Israeli and American plan to pressure the Islamic Republic. Heshmatollah Falahat Pisheh, chairman of national security and foreign policy committee at the Islamic Consultative Assembly, says this is an attempt by Denmark to get closer to the United States.
Rouhani’s consultant, Hesamoddin Ashna claimed on his Twitter page that Mossad and the United States are framing the Islamic Republic in order to get the European Union to go along with the sanctions.
However, recently, another attempted terrorist attack by the Islamic Republic Intelligence, this time against the MKO rally, was uncovered by Belgium, France, and Germany. Several individuals of Iranian descent were arrested in Belgium, properties of the Intelligence ministry were raided in France, and an Iranian Diplomat was arrested by Germany in connection to the case. Netherland has also expelled two Iranian diplomats.
The Islamic Republic has been relatively silent about those events.
