74 Lashes for a Journalist in Khoy City

The sentence of 74 lashes for journalist and poet Mohammad Hossein Sodagar was performed today in Khoy city.

According to HRANA, Human Rights Activists News Agency, previously, branch 103 of the criminal court of Khoy had sentenced this journalist to 74 lashes on the charge of “spreading lies”.

A member of Khoy city council had sued this journalist for publishing an article about the university degrees of the Khoy city council candidates in the election.

Human rights organizations have repeatedly objected to physical punishments like flogging performed by the Islamic Republic on journalists and activists.
