Deputy Attorney General: 30 Million Iranians are Still Using Telegram

Abdolsamad Khorram Abadi, Deputy Attorney General said despite the blocking of the Telegram app by the ministry of communications, there are still 30 million Iranian users on this messenger app.

In a note on his “Soroush” messenger channel (the national messenger app the regime has introduced to replace foreign apps), he suggested the reason Iranians continue to use Telegram is that the “authorities in charge” allow the Persian versions of Telegram to continue their activities. Khorram Ababdi claimed that the Persian versions of Telegram work as proxies and allowing their activities to continue is against the judicial order about filtering Telegram.

Khorram Abadi is referring to Hotgram and Golden Telegram which provide access to Telegram for Iranian users.
