Foreign ministry officials denied any negotiation with U.S and Saudis
The deputy foreign minister of the Islamic Republic, Abbas Araghchi, denied any direct or indirect negotiation with the United States. At the same time, Abbas Mousavi, the spokesperson for the foreign ministry also denied the reports about the beginning of negotiations between the Islamic Republic and the U.S and Saudi Arabia.
Their comments are in response to the recent reports in regional media including comments made by the deputy foreign minister of Kuwait who said: “It seems negotiations between Washington and Tehran has begun.”
After his meeting with the foreign minister of Oman, Araghchi denied any direct or indirect negotiation with the United States and said: “The Islamic Republic does not seek tension in the region.”
The foreign minister of Oman also called for calm on all sides and negotiation between the two countries.
According to state-owned IRNA, the spokesperson for the foreign ministry stated that “the reports about the negotiations between Iran and the United States and Saudi Arabia are incorrect and there is no request for negotiation with the United States.”
