Iran will Move Towards Desalination of Seawater

“With the current drought and environmental changes, we will have no recourse but to move towards desalination of seawater to meet our drinking water needs,” says Hamidreza Kashfi, deputy of strategy at the Water and Wastewater Engineering Company.

Mentioning that Iran’s daily need of 600 thousand square meters of drinking water until the year 2021, he added: “Currently we are building desalination facilities with 400 thousand square meter capacity in total, and we are planning on daily production of 300 thousand square meters of water in two phases.”
