IRGC: The kidnappers had insider help
The spokesperson for the ministry of State announced that the Iranian border control forces who were kidnapped in Mirjaveh are in perfect health. His announcement came after a video of the twelve kidnapped forces was posted in the Telegram channel of “Edalat News”, which is connected to the Jaish Ul-Adl group.
On Monday, October 15, a number of Basij forces and IRGC border control forces were kidnapped and take n to Pakistan. Jaish Ul Adl (Armey of Justice) has taken responsibility for the kidnapping.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that the border patrol forces were kidnapped with “insider help”.
Fars News reported that according to their sources, the kidnapped soldiers were “poisoned with food” first and then taken to Pakistan by the Jaish Ul-Adl group.
There is a history of clashes between IRGC forces and Jaish Ul-Adl members in Mirjaveh region. Sistan and Baluchistan is the only Iranian province that its borders are protected by the IRGC instead of the army. Earlier this Summer there was another clash between IRGC and Jaish Ul Adl forces. In May 2017, at least 9 IRGC border forces were killed in a clash with the Justice Army.
The armed groups in Sistan and Baluchistan say their aim is to “defend the rights of Sunnis” in this province.
