Khamenei warns Iranian officials about “Trump’s trickery”

While talking about the concept of negotiation with the United States, Ayatollah Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic said: “Trump’s political trickery no longer fools the Islamic Republic officials.”

His comments are in response to the recent announcement by the United States about being prepared to negotiate with Iran without preconditions.

On the 30th anniversary of the death of Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei quoted “a world-famous political figure” whose name he did not mention, saying: “In near future, we will witness the surge of international powers who might not be very advanced in industry or military equipment such as nuclear weapons, but they with their power of influencing millions, they will challenge the military and economic dominance of the west.”

The leader of the Islamic Republic added: “Today, the resistance front is at its most united than the past 40 years; across and even beyond the region.”

The Islamic Republic has been known to support Shia militant groups in the region and has been accused of supporting the Maduro government in Venezuela.

Khamenei once again quoted “internationally revered American analyst” whom he did not name, saying: “One of the main reasons for the United States’ animosity toward the Islamic Republic, is that the Islamic Republic has chosen the path of resistance and it has been able to overcome the obstacles and succeed.”

He did recognize the “cost” of resistance but said: “The cost of surrendering to the enemy is much more.”

In January 2018 people across Iran protested the terrible economic conditions of the country. The International Monetary Fund has announced that Iran’s inflation rate will reach 50 percent this year.
