Minister of Education Criticizes Teachers for the Strike

Mohammad Bathaei, the minister of education, told ISNA in an interview: “The fact that our colleagues do not attend their classes in protest is not appropriate. It violates the students’ rights”.

Bathaei also clarified that “the teachers also have a right to express their demands.”

He added: “We shouldn’t ignore the demands of teachers.”

In recent weeks, teachers have protested all across the country and refused to go to class twice, each time for two days. The ministry has not addressed the teachers demands as of yet, and several teachers have been arrested as a result.
