Revolutionary Guard seizes another tanker in Persian Gulf
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced the seizure of another tanker “carrying smuggled fuel” in the Persian Gulf.
On Sunday, The IRGC issued a statement announcing that its patrols “with complete operational knowledge and certainty of fuel smuggling” seized this tanker.
According to the statement, the tanker “carries 700 thousand liters of smuggled fuel” and was seized near “Farsi Island”.
The commander of IRGC’s second zone of operation, Ramezan Zirahi, reported that the tanker has been transferred to Bushehr.
He added: “The smuggled fuel on the tanker has also been delivered to the National Oil Products company in Bushehr province.”
Over two weeks ago, the IRGC seized another “foreign ship” that belonged to the UAE with the same accusation, which was denied by the UAE officials. Iran later released 9 out of 12 crew of the ship who were all Indian nationals, but India demanded the release of all the crew.
In recent weeks Iran also seized a British tanker which has led to more tensions in Iran-Britain relations.
