Second Day of Teachers Strike in Iran

The second round of teachers strike across Iran continued today.

The images received from Iran shows protesting teacher in different cities having a sit-down in the teachers’ lounges and refusing to go to classes.

The coordination council of teachers’ associations was the organizer of this two-day strike.

The teachers have demanded to end the discriminations against teachers, free education, ending the suppression and framing of teachers, and the release of imprisoned teachers among other things.

According to “Teachers and Workers Rights”, the strike is going on at the time when teachers are in bad financial conditions and have very low wages.

The strike was coordinated in provinces of Kurdistan, Hamedan, Fars, Kermanshah, Tehran, Isfahan, Ardabil, Easter Azarbaijan, Khuzestan, Bushehr, Yazd, Gilan, Alborz, Qazvin, Mazandaran, Markazi, Sistan and Baluchistan, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, and Ilam.

The first round of strikes was in September, which led to the arrests of several teachers and union activists.
