Zarif: US should stop isolating itself & adapt to new global realities
Hours after the United States officially left the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Force treaty with Russia, Mohammad Javad Zarif, the foreign minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran said that the US should stop isolating itself and adapt to new global realities.
Zarif tweeted on Friday: “The US should stop isolating itself & adapt to new global realities. Int'l commerce & power are shifting: neither economic terrorism against China & Iran nor exiting Intermediate-range Nuclear Force treaty with Russia will reverse that.”
On Thursday, President Trump announced that he is imposing 10 percent tariffs on $300 billion worth of Chinese exports to the United States, and Beijing promised to respond.
Zarif added: “As Iran's regional dialog & non-aggression pact advance, B-team [Bolton, Mohammad Bin Salman, Mohammed bin Zayed, Benjamin Netanyahu] shrinks.”
The Islamic Republic has suggested a pact of non-aggression between the countries of the region.
The United States treasury on Thursday added Zarif’s name on the list of sanctions. The European Union has not supported this decision.
