Ayatollah Khamenei promises brutal revenge for Soleimani’s death
In his first response to the death of Qasem Soleimani, the commander in chief of the Quds Force and his right-hand man, Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic promised brutal revenge against those “who soiled their hands with his blood.”
Ali Khamenei declared three days of national mourning and said: “Soleimani is the international face of the resistance, and all the supporters of the resistance want revenge.”
He promised that “the resistance movement” will continue Soleimani’s path with “even more motivation” and that “victory is awaiting the warriors of Allah.”
President Rouhani and several other Islamic Republic officials including Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and the head of the army Amir Hatami have also promised brutal revenge and appropriate response against the United States.
Soleimani was killed early morning on Friday while entering Baghdad airport with Abu Mahdi Mohandes, the commander of Iran-backed Hashd Al-Shaabi militia group in Iraq, and several others.
Pentagon announced that the “preemptive attack” was launched in order to prevent further attacks against US interests and employees in the region.
