Hossein Salami, the commander in chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) referred to the recent country-wide protests in Iran as a “war” and threatened: “we will not leave anything unanswered, and we will settle the scores with everyone.”

In a government-planned demonstration in Tehran on Monday, Salami said: “The war that started in our streets, was completely a global scenario. This war is over.”

Salami claimed that protests to the gasoline price-hike was the enemy’s “conspiracy” and said: “Gasoline was just an excuse. The enemy was trying to harm the people of Iran.”

“As you saw, Trump didn’t attend the impeachment session in Congress and stayed in the situation room in White House in order to defeat the great nation of Iran,” the commander in chief of the IRGC claimed.

Salami added: “We were observing it. He (Trump) brought all his forces to the field this time, pressure and maximum psychological war and mercenary foot soldiers all came to the field.”

In another part of his speech, Salami talked about the role that the leader of the Islamic Republic played in fighting against foreign pressures and domestic protests, calling him “a divine man”.

Salami also referred to the presence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq, and said Khamenei “has spread the influence of his revolution thousands of kilometers further.”

There have been reports of IRGC forces and militia forces loyal to the Islamic Republic attacking the protesters in Iraq, and the influence of Iran in Iraq’s situation room.

In their demonstrations, Iraqi protesters have chanted against the Islamic Republic and its political and military leaders.
