"Revoke the visas of relatives of the Islamic Republic officials"

Families of Americans Incarcerated in Iran Demand Action

Families of American citizens incarcerated in Iranian prisons have asked president Trump to revoke the visas of the family members of the Islamic Republic officials in America.

According to NBC, sources close to these families said that they believe that the Trump administration has not tried hard enough to keep his promises to them.

At least four American citizens and one resident of the United State are incarcerated in Iran on the charge of espionage. Human Rights groups have called these charges baseless and arbitrary.

Nadim Zaka, son of Nezar Zaka, who was invited to Iran in 2015 to attend an Internet-related conference and got arrested, says that revoking the visas of the family members of the Islamic Republic officials is “the least that the United States government can do in order to stop this hostage taking that has been going on for the last 40 years.”

The families of the American prisoners have provided a list of Iranians in the United States with family ties to the Islamic Republic officials. The list has been sent to the government and several members of Congress.

Two sources in the Iranian American community have told NBC that the list is very credible and detailed.

The list includes the children of Ali Larijani, speaker of Congress, Hossein Fereydoon, brother of president Rouhani, Masoumeh Ebtekar, Member of Congress and former hostage taker of the U.S embassy, and relatives of Mohammad Bagher Nobakht, chairman of Planning and Budget Organization, and several others.

Revoking the visas of the family members of the Islamic Republic officials has some bipartisan support in the Senate and the Congress.
