Ghasemi: U.S Cannot interfere with Our Relationship with Iraq

Bahram Ghasemi, the spokesperson for the foreign ministry of Iran said: “We do not ask for permission to maintain our relationships.”

His comments are in response to Brian Hooks recent comments about President Rouhani’s trip to Iraq.

In his response to Rouhani’s visit, Hook had stated that the trip is not for Iraq’s benefit and Iran’s ultimate goal is to turn Iraq into one of its provinces.

Hook says Iran plans to create a military highway through Iraq to move missiles and weapons all over the region. He also claims Iran is planning on replacing Iraqi identity with a Shia identity. He also announced that the U.S will impose more sanctions on Iran.

Ghasemi said in response that Americans must change their bad attitude and ambitions. He stated that the time for interfering in other countries and making decisions for them has passed.

After the U.S sanctions, Iranian officials said that they are trying to replace the dollar with Iraq’s currency in their trades with Iraq.

Hassan Rouhani traveled to Iraq on Monday, March 11 for a three-day visit.
