Huawei CFO Arrested in Canada for Violating Iran Sanctions

 

CFO of the Chinese company Huawei was arrested in Canada for violating U.S sanctions against Iran. Meng Wanzhou, the CFO of Huawei was arrested in Vancouver by the request of the United States, and will probably be extradited to the U.S.

The spokesperson for the Canadian Ministry of Justice said he cannot reveal any more information for legal reasons.

China has demanded the immediate release of Meng Wanzhou. Also, her request to be released on bail will be decided by the court on Friday.

Meng Wanzhou is a board member of the Huawei and daughter of the founder of this Chinese tech giant.

Meng’s arrest happens only a few days after the meeting between the presidents of the United States and China, and their pledge to stop the trade war for 90 days.
