Iran and Russia sign classified military agreement

Hossein Khanzadi, the commander in chief of the Navy Force of the Islamic Republic’s military, announced that a classified military agreement has been signed between Iran and Russia.

Khanzadi, who visited Russia last week, says: “Parts of this treaty are classified,” but “it is the first time that such accord has been signed between the two countries.”

In recent years, Iran has allowed Russian bombers to attack Syria from an Airforce base in Hamedan.

Khanzadi did not reveal the details of the treaty but said he has signed it “as the representative of the Islamic Republic’s armed forces”, and that the deal “is a turning point in military cooperation between Tehran and Moscow.

“We have agreed on a military exercise in the Indian Ocean and will soon hold meetings for coordination and planning,” he added.

Khanzadi also claimed that “the imperialist countries led by Britain and America lied to the world by pretending as if the region is not safe, while the region is absolutely secure and their efforts to say otherwise is futile.”

Despite his claims, in the past two months, four tankers have been attacked in Fujairah port and two in Oman Sea, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has shot down an American drone and the US announced later that they have also shot down an Iranian drone.

Also, after the British forces detained the Iranian supertanker Grace1 in Gibraltar, the IRGC forces seized two tankers in the Strait of Hormuz. On top of these, there was also the report of an Iranian fighter jet crashing in Bushehr.
