The spokesman for the foreign ministry of the Islamic Republic once again denied Iran’s role in the drone attacks against Saudi Arabian oil facilities and dismissed the accusation as baseless and irrelevant.

Abbas Mousavi told the reporters on Monday that the “Yemenis” were the ones who “hit” the Saudi oil facilities and this incident has nothing to do with Iran.

The Iran-backed Houthis of Yemen have accepted responsibility for the attack, but US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo says Iran is responsible for the attack.

In the past, it was revealed that Iran provides Houthis weapons, drones, and equipment and supports them financially.

Mousavi claimed that the US is making these allegations because of its dependence on Saudi oil money.

“We are not surprised by these efforts. Dependent countries continue to be dependent and those who want to milk them say these things to give them a sense of security,” said Mousavi.

On the nuclear deal, Mousavi stated that if the current process continues and the Islamic Republic’s demands are not met, the fourth step in scaling down compliance with the deal will go into effect soon.

He also announced that the British tanker Stena Impero will be released from detainment in the next few days. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) detained Stena Impero almost two months ago in response to the seizure of an Iranian tanker in Gibraltar.

Regarding the three Australian nationals that are incarcerated in Iran, Mousavi said that “one of them is charged with espionage for enemy countries.” He added that he is not informed of the other two.
